Gamestop Liquidation Sale

If you’ve visited a GameStop anytime this month, chances are you’ve seen their Power Saver Sale boasting savings of up to 50% on some great titles.  What many of the ads aren’t stating is that GameStop is no longer accepting trade-ins for GameBoy Advance games.  While this may not seem like big news to most gamers, this may be one of the last chances to catch up on classics such as Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga or Zelda The Minish Cap.  GameStop is one of the last major retailers currently selling these games so once they’re gone, good luck locating them.  While it may seem tempting to run to your local GameStop to pick up some forgotten gems, if you hold off until April 18th, GameStop will be having a buy 2 get 2 free deal on GBA games as well as GameCube, and PS2 titles.  Rumor has it that if you’re a GameStop Pro Member, not only will you save an additional 10%, but you’re also entitled to the deal a day earlier starting April 17th at 5:00 pm.

Some notable preowned games and prices:

  • Animal Crossing – $5.99
  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door – $14.99

Just to let you know its not a rumor, every Pro member has access to any sale the Thursday before the public has access to it. Same as the buy 2 get 1 free that happened this past weekend. There are some great perks to being a pro member, if you buy pre-owned, but not limited to just buying pre-owned, new games and other items too.

    • Thanks. I didn’t know that Pro members had access that early. The GameStops that I went to all said that it started on Sunday for Pro members at 5 pm but maybe it’s different depending on location. I didn’t have a definitive source so I didn’t want to state it as fact but thank you for letting me know!

      • It’s no problem! It starts the day before, as long as the member has a pro card.

It does start the Sunday for Pro members, since its the day before the sale starts for the public. I just mentioned Thursday because that is when the Buy 2 Get 1 free started for pro members last week.

Sorry if my first comment was confusing.

GameStop is still accepting Trade-Ins on GameCube and PS2 games. In fact we still have a section of the wall dedicated to Pre-Owned PS2 games. Though it is true we no longer accept trades on GBA games, where did you hear/read that GameStop no longer accepts PS2 or GC games?

    • I agree, Those games will not stop being accepted until Sony and EA stops supporting the PS2 and Nintendo comes out with a console that is not backwards compatible with Gamecube games.

GBA stopped being accepted on the second of April 2011 at my location. Sorry I forgot to add that info.

Same here. April 3rd if memory serves. I think it’s kind of funny how we’re referring to it as a collector’s item. Seems like we’re giving people the wrong idea. It’s really not worth anything more. Lol.

    • Thanks guys. I guess I was just misinformed so I corrected my mistake.
