Machinarium Branching Out to PS3, Tablets

Machinarium, a darling indie adventure game of the point-and-click puzzle variety, has been relatively successful thus far on PC and Mac (it was even included in the original Humble Indie Bundle).  However, Jakub Dvorský, game designer and founder of Amanita Design,  revealed that he plans to take the game to other platforms, including PS3.

While the game should arrive on PSN some time later this year, Dvorský hopes to also get his game on a tablet, although he says he’s not considering the iPad as his first choice, but rather the BlackBerry PlayBook, which goes on sale next month in North America.

Those of you without a PS3 who were hoping to play the game on your console are out of luck: apparently Amanita Design approached Microsoft in the hopes of porting their game to XBLA and were turned down:

“We were already refused by Microsoft to bring the game to Xbox. They weren’t interested because the game was already released for Mac and Windows, and Microsoft demanded it as part of an exclusivity deal. We’re not interested in Microsoft anymore.”

For those of you who haven’t yet had a chance to play this incredibly beautiful and entertaining indie gem, looks like you’ll have another chance.  I know I have several copies of the PC version, and I will definitely be tempted to pick it up again when it arrives on PSN.

If you can’t wait, or would like to try out the flash demo version, visit the official site to get a taste or purchase the game.
