Dragon Quest IX Ships Over 5 Million Units

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies has now shipped 5.3 million units worldwide, Square Enix announced today.  Dragon Quest IX is the first in the series to ship over 5 million units, and is also the best selling game in the series.  Square Enix said the number was reached in December.  Released on July 11, 2009, it has sold just over 1 million copies in the United States and Europe.

Dragon Quest X is currently being developed for the Nintendo Wii, but no release date has been given.
